What's the deal with CBD gummies?
Today it seems as though every CBD brand includes gummies as part of their product line, but what do these little bears do and how do they do it? Are they safe? How will they taste? We’ve got the 4-1-1 on CBD gummies.
What is CBD Used for?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a compound derived from the hemp plant. It has been studied for its potential role in easing symptoms of various health issues, such as anxiety, pain, insomnia and epilepsy. Harvard Medical School notes, “CBD is commonly used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep.” Also, research has shown that using CBD on your skin could help decrease pain and inflammation. Research into the range of benefits of CBD is ongoing, and we expect to see plenty more support for its use.
What are the benefits of CBD-infused gummies versus those that are sprayed or coated?
Some companies spray regular candy gummies to coat them in CBD, vs. adding CBD to the gummy formulation from the start. The issue with this is that spraying gummies can cause inconsistencies in CBD dosage from gummy to gummy. Infused gummies, on the other hand, ensure that you get the advertised amount of active ingredient in each gummy.
Are CBD Gummies Safe?
The short answer is yes. But there are a few bad apples selling mislabeled, possibly harmful products, reinforcing the importance of doing your research before making any CBD purchase. Look for companies that are transparent and use an independent laboratory to test their products. A reputable company will post those lab results on their website, enabling you to see what’s really in each product. Too often, CBD products contain less CBD than listed on the label, have ingredients you don’t want or include more THC than allowed and advertised. When you buy untested CBD products, there could be risks. We also suggest talking with a physician about your interest in using CBD to ensure you don't have health conditions or take medications with which CBD could pose risks.
What do CBD gummies taste like?
Taste could be considered subjective, but we have found through extensive sampling that some CBD gummies do not taste very good, and sometimes they’re downright offensive. It doesn’t have to be that way.
At Half Day, we work closely with a trained chef and other partners to develop our flavors, and that effort has paid off. Customers consistently rate Half Day gummies with the highest of praise for taste. We make our gummies in small batches, with unique flavors, to ensure freshness. We even have coffee-flavored gummies!
Is CBD Addictive?
Rest assured, CBD gummies are not addictive; but for those with a sweet tooth, we can't promise they won't be tempting!
